I had decided that in an effort to write about music daily, I would grab my iPhone, put it on shuffle and post and comment about whatever came up. No screwing around. No looking for a “cool” song. Should something come up that some people may find potentially embarrassing – oh well. I will own it. I will not keep that shit in the closet. Seriously…there may be a few gems in there!

Another day, another shake of the phone…. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts – Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)

I cannot think of a single rock chick that can claim to be cooler that the almighty Joan Jett. This woman never had to work at being hot. She was so full of badassery that being hot was merely a by-product. After doing time in the often tumultuous, all female rock outfit The Runaways, Joan went off on her own and soon became a female force of working class rock to be reckoned with. She has been rockin’ since the 70′s and just keeps on going. Possessing more rock swagger in her little finger than most men in the industry, it’s a crime that she has been passed over for the Rock& Roll Hall of Fame.

Her cover of Glam legend Gary Glitter’s hit gave it a dose of hard rock punch that only made a cool song cooler. Although it was evident that she was a huge fan of the Glam Rock movement, since the song wasn’t really changed all that much, her masculine growl, coupled with heavy guitars made it sound soooo much better the second time around.
